Portlandians, you might want to reconsider buying socks at the thrift shop.
The real surprise here is that it was a Great Dane, not a Lab. Labs are so notorious for eating foreign objects that some vets have a code "LAS": "Lab Ate Something".

If he gorges, the puke is beyond disgusting. But at least it doesn't require surgery.

He also ate part of our rubber door mat. Nice dog, dumb as a stump. Also had a friend whose dog chewed the crotches out of dirty underpants in the laundry, and ate cat poo out of the litter box.
I am convinced dogs will eat anything at all.
