I got stopped by a Cop tonight......
well actually this morning, about 1:30 a.m. I drive for 2 ride sharing companies. I had just dropped 3 young women off at their college. As I was going down the hill, a University Police Office who was standing outside his car, waved me down. My passenger window was down, he stuck his head in the window and said "how do you like this van, I'm thinking about getting one." For the next 10-15 minutes we talked about the pros of my van (really no cons) it's a VW Routan. I did let him to know that 2013 was the last year VW made them & he should start looking now, if he wanted to grab one with little mileage.
We also talked about the ride sharing business, and how much he appreciated the business for bringing back "his" students from the bars. He didn't have to worry about the driving drunk, or walking back from the bars drunk. Now this was a nice way to end my night.

2. Sounds like he abused his authority to get a vehicle review
American police are so corrupt that people are happy when their criminal behavior is benign.

5. Give ME break. Maybe YOU liked being illegally detained by police
But it is still a criminal abuse of power to detain innocent people to get automotive advice.
What do you think would have happened if you ignored him (your legal right in this situation)? |

7. I think the following...........
1. I was on private property, knowing that, it was in my best interest to stop.
2. I did not have an expectation, that anything was going to go sideways. 3. He didn't detain me. He asked a question of me, that had he been out of uniform, he would have asked of any other person driving the same vehicle. 4. Yep, a lot of cops can be assholes, this one wasn't, and actually from the conversation I came away with the sense that he cares for those he is paid to protect, (University Students). |

10. All of those are totally irrelevant
He used his police authority to illegally detain you under the color of law enforcement (pulled over is detained) so that he could get an automotive review.
Just because you like fascism, doesn't mean it isn't fascism. Addressing #3: if he was out of uniform he wouldn't be pulling people over to ask them. AND, you wouldn't get attacked if you ignored him. |

11. Let's see.........
I see the need for anger management classes.
I see the need for review of the definitions of detainment and fascism. I also see the dissolution of a civil society if we attack what should not be attacked. I see the dissolution of DU, when something is posted in the Lounge is attacked. |

6. I'm glad that you had a good experience
But it sounds strange that a cop would pull someone over in such a manner any time of day, but especially in the middle of the night. Did you know for sure it was a cop?
This encounter could have gone differently if he had bad intentions. There are people that act like cops just to rob them. |

8. I did know........
I was on University property, as I drove up the hill, I saw him alongside his patrol car talking to some students (actually they were smiling and laughing). I've been on this campus, often and know the uniform and patrol cars on sight.
