Apple's having no good very bad day.

Last edited Tue Sep 9, 2014, 01:52 PM - Edit history (1)

Their iCloud service took a bit hit with the stolen celebrity images and now, today's live stream is just one big cockup so far. Weird Chinese overdubbing, stops and starts and oh my.

For those interested, I'm watching via some dudes who cover live-stream conferences via UStream:

I'm sure they'll attribute that to a massive amount of viewers - which sounds so much better than attributing the problem to current viewers constantly hitting the reload button.

Two size phones, a regular size one and a new 6-inch size. Lots of new capabilities like wireless calling, more storage, a barometer, something like a 48 metapixel camera...

I'm really just watching to see what the new wearable thingy is. Probably won't buy one but the old Dick Tracy fan in me is fascinated by watch-computers.

(I watch APPL because we have a reasonable amount of the stock. I get my stock practice by playing a game, not with actual money.)

It's been up by about 0.5% and down about the same. Currently 0.17% down at $98 and change a share. But every 30 seconds, it's fluxing. (Now it's up 0.07%.)

If you've got an account and can time your trade well, go for it, but today's a tricky day since it's bouncing.

Part of the reason I keep the apple stock is because it's relatively stable over time.

I only buy when it is massively down. Otherwise I stay away.

I only go for things that I am pretty sure will stay around for years to come.

Regional company, not far past IPO. Stock runs about $4 a share, but has been gaining steadily. Highly responsible fast food (grassfed and pastured beef, chicken and eggs, no growth hormones in the milk and cream, pays well above minimum and staffs above 30 hours unless the employee requests fewer.) Responsible growth.

Best investment I ever made in terms of ROI.

except it wasn't APPL I made my bones on. It was in HS, there was a contest for a scholarship where you invested $10,000 in fake money over the span of 8 weeks and whoever nationally made the most on their investments won a $10,000 scholarship.

The first day I bought nothing; my the teacher thought I was not participating and penciled me a zero for the entire project. Actually I'd done my homework. The 2nd day was the IPO of a technology stock called Lucent Technologies...I didn't know what they did but I knew that everybody was hyped to hell for it. I sunk the entire $10K into the IPO which opened at $35. At the end of the day it was like $177, so I sold it, put the balance in back in my metaphorical pocket..and never made another transaction.

Easiest 100% grade on a project I've ever gotten.

Sad. The watch needs you to have an iPhone/Cell Phone to make the whole thing work its wonders - like all the other smart watches.

Oh well. Someday someone will make a stand-alone smart watch.

boB bless Dick Tracy.
