I was at the 1976 Star Trek convention in Chicago, and it was the normal stuff that was rare at that one!
The Dorsai (convention security that dress up like old series Klingons,) were trying to keep order while there was jockeying for power, Bill Shatner got hit with a pie, and to close it out, the Chicago fire department closed down the con since there were too many people there.
One rumor that was half-believed, someone told me the guy who made "American Graffiti" was making a space movie.
We figured it would go nowhere like so many other space movies did.

They had security check to get in, but none of us had any blades, so we were able to breeze right in.

(1,439 posts)The Impellers are an indie band that grew out of the demise of another band. The band Turbo finished a stage performance where they symbolically burned their instruments in protest. As can be expected in their drunken condition, Turbo actually did burn their instruments by mistake and that was the end of them. Most of the followers of the Impellers are after burning Turbo fans.

(12,153 posts)It was held in Minneapolis in 1996, and my two sisters and I went to it. It was wonderful! Everything that happened there was strange and wonderful - and often hilarious, including the time my sisters and I had to help the Octopus (Episode 423 Bride of the Monster) squeeze into the elevator with us. A JC Penney convention was going on at the same time, and none of the Penneys conventioneers would share elevators with any MST fans. They looked down their noses at us, which made the whole event even more fun.
Here are some pictures I took at the costume ball and banquet. Mike, Trace, Kevin and the rest of the cast mingled with all of us. What a blast!
