The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI hope to see Lindsey Stirling at the Puyallup Fair this Tuesday
I just found out about the show an hour ago, I plan to see the show but only if I can line up a friend to go with. (I refuse to go to concerts by myself so I go with friends or not at all!) For those of you who do not know who Lindsey Stirling is, she is a talented young Violinist who has done VERY well on youtube with her videos. A few years ago she made it to the quarter finals of season five, America's Got Talent where she got eliminated. Lindsey refused to give up on her dream, the rejection caused her to redoubled her efforts and soon she carved out a name for herself on youtube. Currently her videos display the polish and sophistication that rivals anything Michael Jackson could have pulled off for MTV and her fans are now legion. Unlike the typical musician who 'gets famous', Stirling chooses to be an inspiration to her fans and especially to the kids who adore her. Look out Justin Beeber, here comes Lindsey Stirling to show you how it's done! Check her out:
and many many more of her wonderful videos are here at her official site:

(10,558 posts)Well I happen to love all furry friends too so it's not like I could have lost any respect for the lounge anyway but I was beginning to think myself the only DUer who loved the art of Lindsey Stirling! Now color me no expert on her works but I have been studying up on her via youtube and Wiki and I am truly impressed! Frankly I see no reason why this artist won't become a world class mega-star in a year or so. I have not purchased any of her CDs yet but I plan on getting Shatter Me. I love her enthusiasm, her drive, her loyalty to her fans and especially how she is inspiring children the world over to pick up and learn the violin
This show tomorrow will be my first. I have not been to any music event large or small in perhaps a decade but I have seen waaay more than my share of concerts and local club gigs when I was younger and let me tell you: I have NEVER been more excited to see a show! I have 'conned' my best friend into coming along. She is 42, never heard a single note by Lindsey Stirling but I told her that by shows end she would be looking to buy Lindsey Stirling CDs! Ha, boy is my friend in for a happy surprise!
I have been checking out fan-based videos of her 2014 tour and I believe she plays Spontaneous Me on this tour, well I hope so at any rate because it is GREAT! My fave is Phantom of the Opera which I posted in the OP, sadly she does not have those particular musicians with her so it will likely not get played.
Thanks for responding with a Lindsey Stirling vid, who knows maybe one or two of our fellow DUers may 'discover' Ms Stirling here because of this! Just like my friend will find out tomorrow night: Won't they be in for a happy surprise!
For anyone reading this who does not know who Lindsey Stirling is and how she became the artist she is today spend a little time watching this self made documentary and maybe you will understand why this 60 year old DUer is sooooo damned excited to see her tomorrow:

(10,558 posts)I must have played that Phantom Of The Opera vid at least that many times in the past couple of days. I am a 'gamer', specifically a HALO fan. I discovered Lindsey Stirling a few months back while looking for youtube covers on the HALO themesong. Needless to say, I fell under her wicked spell quicker than a cowboy at Rosa's Cantina:
