... how people just cut right in front of any moving vehicle like that
leaving what looked like inches between them sometimes. And nobody
shaking an angry fist -- it must've been standard driving practice.

Maybe the speeds were low enough that it looks more reckless than it
actually was.

My uncle lives right on Market St, near Castro. I'll have to share this with him. His partner told me almost nothing remains of pre-earthquake SF, but I recognize the geography.
