Readers Have Lots to Say on Salting Olive Garden’s Pasta Water

http://blogs.wsj.com/moneybeat/2014/09/12/readers-have-lots-to-say-on-salting-olive-gardens-pasta-water/

The pasta debate is starting to boil over.

After the Journal’s David Benoit revealed to the world last night that Starboard Value LP had several very specific strategies it would use to boost the value of the company that owns Olive Garden, we here at the WSJ have been flooded with reader emails, online comments and strongly worded tweets.

At issue: Starboard’s suggestion that it would improve the quality of food at Olive Garden by salting the water that’s used to cook the pasta. Apparently, this is the sort of touchstone issue that speaks to people’s most deeply held beliefs.

That was an epic thread, an instant DU classic even though its lifespan was short.
