Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this yet here 'tis.

My brother-in-law died last week and it suddenly hit me - my sister has never lived alone, ever. She was at home when he went to Nam and when he got back, they married and headed out here to California.

I've no idea what it must be like, though I've had my losses, to be in such new territory after so long. So this is what I told her.
