So we've been fostering cats - very pic heavy

We got a new cat last year from a group here in Mississauga called Forever Homes Cat Rescue. Earlier this summer, we were asked if we wanted to foster some cats as they need help, and it sucks to have cats stuck in cages in a pet store.

What a joy. It's hard though because we want to keep them all, but with 2 of our own and a dog, it's better this way. And I look at it as an opportunity to help, and also to get to know new cats all the time. Hard to let go, but we know it has to be done.

so here we have Oliver. He is a little over a year old, he was found alone in a park, dumped. Don't know by whom. He is a very nice, loving, polite gentleman. He really is. Minds his own business, enjoys affection, but when convenient for him. He loves snoozing on our bed in the morning when the sun beams in making it nice and warm.

This is Fancy, she is a 7 year old Rag Doll that along with 18 others, was rescued from an elderly woman who used to show them, but she had to be put into a home because dementia was setting in and she couldn't care for them anymore.
Fancy stayed with us for about a week and a half and was very happy. She was adopted quickly.

This is Sora, she was only with us for about a week, and was also quickly adopted.

And now we have Poe. My wife and daughter spent the weekend at an adoption event helping out, and little Poe came home with them because he has a little cold, and they preferred he not stay at a pet store with other animals passing it on.
He's a little firecracker and is trying hard and succeeding in making friends with our cats and our dog Sandy. He loves, loves playing with Olivers tail. Oliver sits with his back to Poe and flicks his tail for him.

All that said, we are also cat sitting my parents cat while they travel.

Madonna on the left and Charo on the right. Madonna is a bit of a bully, and a little grumpy. Not sure if it's the fact she only has 3 legs, or just my Mom spoiling her. She has a knack for laying in the middle of a pathway in the house trying to intimidate the other cats, who just gingerly hop around her. Charo is nice, cuddly and generally minds her own business. They'll be leaving us after a month visit on Monday.

As mentioned, our cats and dog who have been very patient with the new visitors over the course of the summer.

Chloe, 1, tons of energy and mischievous enough to keep it interesting.

Pumpkin, the matriarch, she is our oldest cat. She's been with us 15 years.
She's a little annoyed by all the cats in and out, but just has her spots in the house where she can be alone and not bother much with anyone.

and last, but certainly not least, Sandy. She's 7 years old, a Coconut Retriever. She's so tolerant with all the ins and outs, and does a great job trying to make friends with everyone. She's very gentle with all the cats and loves playing a little chase once in a while.

So all told, currently, we have 6 cats and a dog here right now. 2 leave on Monday, and I'm sure once Poe or Oliver get adopted we'll take some new ones in. We're of the mind that 2 fosters at a time is reasonable enough for us to handle.

All territorial stuff, but nothing serious.
No fights or swatting that we've seen to this point.

I have passed out from all the cuteness. Don't mind me, I'll just lie here on the floor for a while.

What a wonderful thing to do.

And I had to google "coconut retriever." First I've heard of them. What a lovely pup you have there.

From the shit the world has going on.

That said, I just cleaned the house. Vacuumed. OMG, this townhouse isn't huge, but man it's big when you have to clean with this many animals. I think I emptied the canister 4 times before I was done.

Oh well, it has to be done and despite the scary noise, all the animals found hidy spots until I was done. Slowly they have all come out of the woodwork to find their afternoon nap spots.

You are wonderful people for caring for these animals. I know the hardest part is giving them up, but it is worth it to know they will have a good life. We just had two ferals adopted and I MISS them! But their people are so happy and love them. You're lucky to have so much quiet with so many. Our cats don't like it one bit as it cuts into their "world revolves around me and all affection is mine" attitude But I am so happy whenever there's another happy ending.

Oliver looks and sounds like he's my kind of cat.

People who foster pets who are waiting for a forever home are the best!
