Cat houses that your cat does not deserve

Cats like to sit on computer keyboards, kitchen counters, houseplants and infants' cribs, so it's usually a waste of energy to provide a cat house.

However, these elaborate structures designed by Los Angeles architects might be worth the effort. Your cat will think it is an elaborate piece of fine art, compelling the feline to appropriate it as its own territory.

The architects provided their cat design services, pro bono of course, as part of a fundraiser put on by Architects for Animals for the nonprofit Fixnation to support spaying and neutering cats in the Los Angeles area.

The houses were then donated to Fixnation, which will donate them to various cats that live outdoors, according to representatives of the event.

We're expecially fond of the chaise lounge/cat cage. Cats not included. No dogs allowed.

My cats was never that picky - a lap - or preferable between the keyboard and the pc monitor - or on the coach - as long as they wanted to be - or just in the bed I missing having a cat - it was a lot of company... and they was often caring too - the opposite of what people tend to believe..

...when a feral cat had NINE kittens under our shed!! Count 'em, nine. We already had three cats and no matter how we advertised, no one offered to adopt even one. We live in the country and the local animal shelter had a glut of cats. Since we live on acreage, we became those people. The ones with a dozen cats lolling around their house and patio.

....but probably expensive.

We lost our oldest boy back in May. (Still hurts.) He was the Most Expensive Cat In The History Of The World. Ye godz the money we spent keeping that boy healthy. But man he was a good head. We loved him. I'd have spent a million with a smile on my face if we could have fixed his problems.

Love fucking hurts.

All my cats - choose me - not the other way around - and they all cared rather well to me - as I spoiled them -and cared for them - when their owner was not around - the last one got kittens too - 3 wonderful kittens who made me mad as hell - but also loved them deeply - as they could melt ice with their looks alone.... And for some reason my Vesla (tiny one) trusted me enough to put me in charge of the kittens when she was out doing whatever a cat decide to do when outdoor.. and the tree kittens was doing their things - and also made me a part of their games - it was fun to look at - as they often interact with each others as small kids - playing - having fun - the two sisters also had the bone to bully the boy in the litter - until he got enough and really get back on one of his sisters, and showed who he was in the litter He was also a boy who missed his mom dearly - and was close to her at most times when she was home...

When they was old enough they was given some freedom - like walking on the patio - and also down at the Grass -at first they was horrified about it - but when they understood it was not dangerous - it was no way getting them back again! - one night I was trying to get them back in - one cat is easy enough to get in - but tree at the same time - a hopeless adventure - and then I even managed to stumble in my own two feet -and fall as long as I was and hit my knee - the tree devils was locking at me - and lafing as hell as cats can do - and then up to new adventures when I was sitting home with a bad knee... My cat come home - wondered where the kittens was - I told her they was out doing whatever tree kitten do outside - she just made a low call on the outside -and the tree devils was sitting there again... and still I had that bad knee

In the end I had to give them up - mostly because of allergy - but I gave them all to good homes at least - so I know they are well cared for for the rest of their life...

Hey being one of Those people is not a bad thing - it just show you care for cats - with love - of course you end up with a dozen cat but you will have a lot of lovely caring cats who love you - and trust you - and will be with you for many years to come - and if you also have the space to have a cat - then it dosen't sound to bad having a dusin of cats - just rembember to spay them - so it end up in a few dozens of cats out there

Cats are wonderful. So are dogs. Our cats and dogs mostly ignore each other except for one of the kittens and our late Chocolate Lab that always cuddled and slept together. They were inseparable. We are veterans and qualified to get them all spayed under the SNAP program. It breaks my heart that our part of the county is still overrun with feral cats. I see adorable kittens by the Walmart and HEB dumpsters all the time. The county says it's got a program for spaying and releasing and I hope it's true. They have way too many kittens in the animal shelter that aren't getting adopted.

I love your stories of your cats. Only cat lovers can relate. And it is cute to look around and watch lazy content cats dozing around our house and outside our patio, well-fed and well-loved.

Thank you, Diclotican.

Both cats and dogs is wonderfully - if you treat them with love and care, they can be very caring for you - and show it - even cats who other vice might be rather shy - would care for you if you treat them well.... And for the most part, if cats and dogs are in the same home - they learn to co-operate - if not in a loving and caring way - so at least try to be out of each others way for the most part... My sister had a dog and two grown cats - the dog wanted to play with the cats - the cats was not as amused by the dog - even if he just wanted to get to know them.... Often he experienced the claws of the male cat - he was not shy using them, for that silly dog - but he bounced back every time the cat was using the claws - Bamse as he was known as - was not the smartest dog in the world - but had a heart of gold

It is sad when you have all this feral cats who is living around you - who can not get a decent home to live in - and who encounter all ways of hazards and illness - it is horrible - but where I live I do not think it is to many stray cats - thankfully - and the shelters seen to be able somehow to catch the ones who is in danger of being it... But it is not so easy to get cats who are dumped to homes who could help them - and care for them the rest of their life either - so yes, I do understand it is not an easy task....

But thanks to you and your special one -at least 12 cats is living in a caring home - and is cared for as long as they live - and where they can lay around content - lazy and well loved for as long as they live.... They might not show it always but they do know to love you - and care for you in their own specially way - as my cats did....

Your welcome - I have many other histories to tell about some of my cats i have had - I also had a cat once - who was very glad in me - and acted almost like a dog in many ways - she even walked me a part to the job I had - I was able to walk to my job then - and she walked with me, almost to the road where the traffic made it dangerous for her to walk - and she often was sitting at the side of the road - when I come home -and walked with me home - and was talking about whatever she was talking about all the way back - one day when I was late - she even was angry about me - because I was not there at the usual time... But after some codling - and saying I'm sorry about it - and some food back home - she enjoyed her self again - and slept in my arms again as she often did when the evening came.... She often was sleeping in the bed too - first just on the side with me - to I was sleeping and then she walked down to the other end and was going to bed there - at least until I accidentally hit her with my feet - I was dreaming of a soccer match - and I got one right at the wrist - in the other end it was a cat - who brutally was awaken as she hit the other side of the room..... It was by accident of course - she got sad and I had to go up and into the living room - and kind of tell here - that I was sorry about it - and that I doesn't meant to do it.... She was sad poor cat - i guess I hit her hard ;/ But the next day she was herself again - and just happy I was awake...

Another time - with the same cat - I was preparing some beef for myself - and she was doing her best to make me stumble in her all the time when I was in the kitchen - finally I got enough of it - so I made a part of the beef - cut it into nice little pieces - and gave here it - she was eating all of it up - and then, for the rest of the evening lying as long as she was on her back with a big belly who I had to stroke gently as she was rather stuffed - she was not begging for anything at the kitchen for a long time after that experience But she was very content where she was

I miss having a cat - I might as well try to get another cat, as it is many cats who need a home and some who care for them - and I do have outdoor space enough to them to be when home is getting to small too.... And most cats like that idea - about been able to be some out - and then some inside home. And I have all the time in the world to do exactly that - caring for a cat as I'm on disability - it would just make my day better to have a animal to care for....

Your right - I should getting another cat - if anything it is no lack of cats to care for - a Skogkatt should have been nice -even if it is a lot of hear to work out And they are also very gentle creatures who is glad in some cuddling - at least from the ones who care for them propperly....

Sadly i am also somewhat allergic to cats - so it is somewhat of an issue that too - but It would be nice to have a animal in the house again - I miss it..

to sleep in the chair you want to sit in at any given moment. Removing the feline does not. So one gives up and lets the cat go back to sleep in your lap.

There is nothing our feline overlords don't deserve for putting up with us, their unworthy human servants.

My last cat generally preferred one of three places. On top of me, or in the chair next to the fireplace in the winter, or in the window in the summer.

2. Also, it's "chaise longue," not "chaise lounge." In French, it literally means "long chair."
