For me, any small Italian restaurant. Do you have a fave restaurant ? FTR, I don't find Pizza Hut vomitous, although I know most do.

(28,394 posts)I'm not a pizza fan, though. It tends to be too greasy for me, so I prefer home-made.
Haven't been in a Pizza Hut in over 20 years.

(37,457 posts)Does it serve sham-pag-na also ?
pinboy3niner
(53,339 posts)Their pizza's good, though I usually go for their pasta (with garlic bread)--and they do serve beer and wine.
But what mostly endears them to me is that they host a lot of our charity events, like fundraisers for the project started by a group of local high school students to provide a new home for a local wounded warrior and his kids and his caregivers.
When we did a week-long display of our half-scale mobile replica of the Wall over last Veterans Day, the husband-and-wife owners of Vince's personally came out bringing a couple dozen pizzas for the Wall Team and volunteers. They are involved in their community, and the community supports them in turn.
I'd have to check on the cham-pag-na thing. I usually just go for a bottle of wine.

(33,688 posts)that makes a pie that is the closest thing I have ever found to Lombardi's (the legendary First Pizzeria in the US, still in NYC, used to be in Philly as well). Punch is celestially good and is certified by the Neapolitan Pizza Authority or whatever it's called; it's like the Appellacion Controlee label on French wines.
Pizza Hut is definitely better than Domino's or Papa Johns.

Best pizza I've ever had: Ralph's, Oyster Bay. That man is a child of God.

(1,858 posts)Rossi's. Thin crust, crispy, all the meats. It's not the best/safest location in town, but they have good food for the price. They also make a pretty good burger.

(99,915 posts)The local location that's by my house is pretty much my home bar - i know a lot of the people who work and drink there. The five cheese pizza - amazing. And the beer is good too!
There's also a Chipotle style pizza place by my school called The Pizza Studio that kicks ass too.

(245 posts)Some of te best restaurants I've ever been to are in the ghetto, this 93 year old family owned Italian restaurants is no exception http://wellsbrosracine.com/ they've even been named 6th best pizzeria in the country.
Everything I've had there is great, an excellent lunch is a plate of their bruschetta a bowl of whatever of the 4 soups they have that day and a local microbrew beer from a brewery like New Glarus, Stevens Point, Tyranena, MKE, Sprecher, O'so or Gray's.

The quality seems to have suffered in years past, or maybe just my taste buds have changed. But it is still an old family favorite. They also have great house Italian dressing.

(5,364 posts)Large fairly cosmopolitan metro area though. I have 3 within a 5 mile radius. Real pizza made by transplanted NY-ers. 1 of the 3 delivers, but the other two are well worth going to them to pick it up. Pie is right on the money, and they thankfully don't pander to philistines with this "NY style" bullshit. It's just pizza.
Faves are ( other than regular cheese pizza ) either regular with anchovies, or the "white" mozzarella/ricotta pie with seafood and white wine.

If you ever get back up here, check it out. Cool little bar/lounge with some good beers. And the back room is a dance club if you're into that sort of thing (I am!).

(23,272 posts)The "big" name Chicago pizzerias are world class because there's so much more than deep dish....
And the original restaurants that launched their "name" like Pizzeria Uno are bursting with ambiance...small, funky, close, full of excellent smells and fresh ingredients.
Its a blast! (As well as being a gastronomic delight!)

Their veggie pizza is awesome.
Before that, though, you had to drive 20 miles into the city to a Greek restaurant that morphed into a sports bar. Their Greek pizza was some of the best I've ever had.

lol
Went to Albany on business. After my assignment was over one night, I went downtown and visited a few bars. I got drunk. Before heading back to the hotel, I stopped at this pizza joint and ordered two slices. I couldn't see what the pizza looked like before they served it. When my order was up, it was Chicago style deep dish. It was freaking awful!
