Or I took it that way. What happened was that, after some bad news and going through the funk of that, I had a chance encounter with somebody who had gone through something big and had come out of it, and later I sent an e-mail to my circle saying I had gotten "a message from the universe" that uplifted when I needed it most.

This woman replied, "That was God's UNMERITED grace that you received." I was stunned. After the quandary of whether to answer or not, I said, "Gosh, (Name), are you HARSH, much?!"

She replied with the usual theological twists, "God's grace is unmerited by EVERYONE." I said, "Um, O.Kaaaay, well, you sure made it sound personal to me!1"
