Due to years of neglect, he was so sick when he was discovered that he could barely eat. According to the Telegraph, staff at the Well Animal Clinic in West Hampstead had to feed him with a syringe.

(3,510 posts)One of my cats would get matted on his belly and you could feel the heat radiate from those spots. Luckily, he would let me trim him. The cat in this article must have been roasting to death. Glad he was saved.

(9,527 posts)He had a long time to learn to not trust and of being unhealthy. My last cat was like that when I first got her from the pound and after about a month where she was under the bed anytime I was home, she spent every night sleeping on top of me purring.
Or he could turn out to be like my mom's cat who was friendly and happy for years, had a traumatic experience and has been pretty crabby ever since. Well except for about midnight when she really really really wants to be pet. Other than that, if you pet her, she tolerates it for a few seconds before hissing and running away.
