I'm a night owl anyway. Tonight I am BUZZZZZED! I'm taking Prednisone due to pneumonia and that stuff at high doses makes you HYPER!!! I've cleaned places in the last couple days in this house that have never been cleaned before! Tonight I'm doing carpets.

Wheeeeeee!

Not the medication bits, but the being at home part. This is day 14 of 14 for me and I cant wait to have some time off!! I stay up at night too on my days off. Planning on re-arranging the livingroom. Cutting edge stuff...

I am still a night owl, however!

What kind of work are you doing? I was a nurse...

My daughter is a 911 dispatcher too. Now she's on days, teaching the new hires.

It's a very good job, and she loves it.

Nights could be slow.........and then they could be insane! We used to say that the ER staff could hear us sit down! I worked critical care mostly.

dispatching pays a living wage at least. Great she's on days and training. All centers are generally understaffed, but the hours can be hard for young families.

Critical care sounds exciting. I don't know how nurses do it. I'm super squeamish.

I was never squeamish, thank goodness! But the work does wear you down, and eventually I got out. I ended up with the Red Cross, drawing healthy donors. It was great.

Longest stretch 6 years, and I mean "Real" night shift ( midnight-ish to am ). Hated it. It sucked. I really did make getting rest a priority, which helped me physically: but at a huge cost to my social life. Can't tell you how many times I wanted to punch the lights out of those who glibly said to me upon hearing of my work schedule "Oh, that must be great to have so much free time during the day" and shit like that.

Not just the least bit bitter, even in restrospect, me.
