(12,256 posts)in the 1940s and living in Tokyo, some of the playgrounds we went to had rough wooden slides. Ouch. My sister and I still used them, though. We ran or duck-walked down them instead of sliding.

(1,365 posts)One of my retirement schemes was to open a museum of forbidden playground equipment with all the fun things kids can't have anymore like swings, see-saws and merry-go-rounds. My father built a huge swing set. We used to put a ladder on one of the swings and have a swinging, spinning see-saw. That was fun.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
