In 12 days I will be 50.
I have been on this site since November 2004, pretty much daily. I am going to try to get my post count to 1000 before my birthday.
I find I have been posting more the past few months because I seem to have more time now that my youngest child is almost 20. Even though I do spend a lot of time taking care of my grandsons while my oldest daughter works. The last goal I had in life was saving enough stamps at the Shop N Save to get a cheesy cheap Rachel Ray bowl. I managed to reach that one. I think I can do this.

4. Yes. That is what I tell my daughter!
When she gets discouraged, I remind her that I was once in her shoes and I/we both made it just fine!
My sister and I try to convince all of our kids that this person they know as grandma was NOT the same person we knew as mom! |

12. Happy almost birthday to your brother!
I was born on my aunt's birthday. She is going to be 89.
I have two kids born on the same day, 3 years apart. October 22. My youngest was born just after my 30th which makes it easy to keep track of how old she is!!!! We recycle birthdays in our family! |

FWIW....I found the fifth decade to be marvelous.
Felt much comfortable in my own skin, had my job skills down pat. Plus I met the love of my life when I was 53! ya never know what is around the next corner. Happy Birthday! ![]() |

15. This age does have it's advantages.
I can wear whatever I want and nobody notices or cares. Although being out of work helps with that, too.
And all my life, I hear about how awful hot flashes are, so far I am liking it, especially with fall coming on. I feel like i have settled most issues with my past and I look forward to the future. This is the icing on the cake! I've been with "the love of my life" since I was a kid! Now we are learning how to be "just us" since the kids are grown. This could be a lot of fun! |

19. Fuggetaboutitt! Or: Aint nuthin but a thang!
Really though, it's no big deal, so don't get rattled about it. Same thing people tried to razz me about when I turned 30: It meant nothing. I was in a better position in life at 30 than I was at 20. I was leaner/healthier at 40 than 30. Still was at 50, which I turned recently. The only negative types were two ( latent ) conservative friends who were/are still trying to use their projection shit and knocking themselves out trying to convince me I should throw in the towel and be miserable curmudgeons like them. No. Just live your heart. Don't let your body follow a fallen heart like so many seem to do.

22. Attitude does mean a lot!
In my head, I am still basically the same person I was at 20, just with more knowledge and experience.
My husband is 7years older than me and tends toward the curmudgeon side. Keeping him out of that helps me from going there myself! |
