Golden Retriever a rescue, rescues his extended adoptive family

Last edited Tue Oct 7, 2014, 08:23 AM - Edit history (1)

This dog was being cared for by his owner's family while she was away. He woke them up and alerted them their house was on fire.

Teddy is the grandmother's dog. He ran upstairs and awoke the mother and refused to leave the bedroom until she got up. Then she smelled the smoke and got her family to safety. The house is a total loss. The part that sustained the most damage was the area where the children were sleeping. No one heard the smoke detectors go off so the dog saved their lives without question.

And if you don't have smoke alarms, install them.

If you have them, check/change the batteries.

I can verify there are only minutes, sometimes, to escape
a house fire. They can become infernos in a matter of minutes.

In another write up on this story the family said they did not hear the smoke detectors going off.

The station is messing with their website and keeps changing it.

I have heard a lot of wonderful things about Goldens. The mother of my sister's former boyfriend was a licensed breeder. My sister visited her several times and fell in love with the breed. She wanted to adopt one but she spends a lot of time working and thought it wouldn't be fair to the dog. I offered to raise one at my house in addition to my Shepherd so she could visit it a lot. She said two dogs would be too many for us, and she said she can't ask me to give up having a Shepherd, because I have loved and been devoted to that breed since I was five years old. I was more than willing to have both though.

I am sorry yours are no longer with you.
