I am so Cantankerous with some people lately

It started Sunday. Now don't get me wrong I think the V.O.A. is a great organization, however, they have been calling me literally non stop to ask if I have items to donate because they have a truck coming through my area. I told them there is a local store and when I have something I drop it off and I didn't have any large items that would need truck transport. You think that would have been it. Nope. They call in the early mornings, weekends, 9:00 at night four or five times a week. I finally lost my temper and said "I already told your organization I don't have anything, so please quit calling because it's starting to border on harassment."

Now some guy stops and asks who owns the lot behind you? I said I am one of the owners. He said "can I hunt there?" I said no. He said "do you mind if I ask why," like he thought I owed him an explanation.? I wanted to get snarky and say "because I said so." I did say "because we don't want anyone shooting so close to our house." He then says "but I only use a bow and arrow." I don't care what he uses. I don't want some stranger I don't know from Adam with any kind of a weapon, that near me, my house, or my dog.

Then I sit down to relax the phone rings. I answer. It's some lady, saying "Hi I'm with Pro Life N.Y. " By this time I had it, I virtually growled into the phone, and almost didn't recognize my own voice, "I'm Pro Choice and I don't want to hear any of your crap, so just leave me the hell alone," and then I slammed the phone down.

Normally I go out of my way to be polite, understanding, and non confrontational but I just got thinking " I don't bother anyone, I mind my own business, why can't they just give me some peace.

But I can certainly sympathize, sounds like you've been getting the worst of them. As for the hunter - Yikes!

that as we start getting closer to the election and the holidays the calls increase.

I was glad Marnie was raising a ruckus when the guy came to the door. I also have a "Beware German Shepherd on Duty" sign.

Thank You for the Hug!

Let alone when someone comes to the door. And though I can sympathize with all the calls you've been getting, you and I know who's running and where and when to vote. I've made GOTV calls for my congressional candidate, and only one in dozens is interested in even knowing the name of the candidate's website, even though they have no idea who's running and they're on a list of likely Democratic voters.

Here's my ferocious dog:

I generally politely wish telephone solicitors good luck with their other calls after I have turned dowm whatever they are offering, but not so a few days ago.

We are besieged by recorded robocalls advising us that this is our "last chance to take advantage" of some sort of credit card service. my husband has tried several times to speak to a live person, but as soon as you say you want to be taken off the calling list, they hang up. I gave it one more shot, and shouted, "Take me off your fucking calling list," as I heard the hang up. Nothing will change, but it was a bit therapeutic.

At least with the Volunteers of America it was an actual person who promised to remove my name and I haven't had any new calls since.

I have screamed what you did into the phone when I have gotten robotic calls from Republican candidates. I am not sure why they call here as I am a registered Democrat. My late mother was a registered Republican though in later years she voted for Democratic candidates, my late father was also a Republican, so maybe the Pukes don't realize my parents are deceased, but you'd think they'd update their records. My Dad died in 1991 and my Mom.in 2008.

I always love getting a live Republican on those calls though as I take great pleasure in telling them I am not only a Democrat but a liberal one at that, and that I wouldn't vote for a Republican even if they offered to pay me. Then I hang up.

Most of the time it's a damned nuisance and someone wanting to sell something.

We even have an unlisted number. I do not know HOW these people have gotten it.

Usually, I interrupt them and tell them we don't accept solicitation calls and that
I pay for my phone for my convenience--not theirs--so take us off the list.

Doesn't work. And if they keep trying to talk over me? I just hang up.

even with an unlisted number. Plus I think they made too many categories of callers exempt from the Do Not Call list regulations.

How they think bugging you on the phone is going to make you want their product or win you over to their cause is beyond me.
