First crushes for sure
Those were the days before MTV and YouTube.
Who remembers going to the store and buying the little 45s to play on their 'record players' and buying the teen fan mags every week. Cutting out the photos and 'pasting' them in a book or pasting the centerfolds on the bedroom wall
THEN ... (foggy memory here) songs such as 'Smoke on the Water' by Deep Purple, 'Space Oddity' by David Bowie, (real rock-n-roll) etc crept into my consciousness - and Davy, Bobby, and David were left behind ....
p.s. I wish I still had The Beatles sweatshirt that I got from Santa Claus when I was around 8 years old and The Monkees metal lunch pail and thermos bottle - they might be a pretty penny now-a-days

(14,061 posts)1. I had boxes and boxes of 45s.
If there was one song I particularly had to have, I would be the first in line to buy it, and bug the store until they got it. I remember reading 16 magazine (there was another one, forget its name, which wasn't as good as 16). Yes, I hung up the posters that came with the magazine.
My first rock (well, pop) album was one of the Monkees', which I got as a 6th birthday present. Played it until it wore out. Then came Bobby Sherman, Donny Osmond, and David Cassidy.
I wish I knew what became of those 45s. I have some, but I have no idea what happened to the rest of them.

(36,974 posts)2. Oh yeah, Donny Osmond too ...
I know what happened to my 45s - I left them in the garage when I moved out when I left my EX.
Makes me a little sad to think of 'em.
And in the 'old days' as far as shows we had The Ed Sullivan Show, Sonny and Cher, American Bandstand, Soul Train, The Partridge Family, The Monkees, Donny & Marie, The Brady Bunch etc ...
No video games, Ipads, cell phones, computers, etc - the kids today would go nuts

without cell phones...
We told our parents where we were going...like to a friend's house.
When the streetlights came on, that's when we went home.
