Man was that a nice axe.

On Edit: I also had to play a clunky old sousaphone in marching band, but at least I got to wear a beret!

Moved from trombone.
Highlight was when he joined 30 some other band's Sousaphones
for the march on to Dodger's Stadium during So Cal band night.

They played in formation and then joined their respective bands as they marched on field.

When he practiced it would shake the house window glass. Kinda cool, though.

10. We need a Glee type show called TUSK about MS/HS/U marching bands..

I would love it...

My boys were at the age where they were in MS and HS
bands and played Tuba/Sousaphone and Percussion respectively
and both played "Eye of the Tiger".
I can still hear their parts in my head, today.

Remake of the Dueling Banjos.

Brother played tuba in HS. He and his bud would get togather and play it.

Band will be living on in our family in two years when our
grandson joins band...hopefully a bass clef instrument.

You never know, though...he stops short whenever he hears a piccolo.

He learned to ride a unicycle and he was damn good. Upstairs, downstairs, you name it. I mean circus folks were the only people better than he was.

He would have to practice scales on his tuba, so he would hop on his unicycle with his tuba, and cycle around the block playing. The neighbors still talk about that. We would call that Extreme Multi-tasking these day.

Mom is a great sport about everything. We were all practical jokers, but then she pulled a few good ones too. We laughed a lot.

When we did something bad, we knew if we could make Mom laugh about it, we were home free.
