(10,662 posts)The story took place in Faber, Pa. The tone was founded by pencil magnate Emil Faber (whose statue has the inscription, "Knowledge is good"
. He chose the location because of the plentiful wild eraser root.
I don't think any of the movie was shot there. As I recall, all the campus scenes were filmed at University of Oregon.
