New Bill Watterson Comic Is A Simple But Perfect Celebration Of Comics

When Bill Watterson makes a comic about comics, his affection for and mastery of the medium are clear. This nearly wordless, Sunday newspaper-style comic is a reminder of just how much we've missed Watterson's work since Calvin and Hobbes ended.

Watterson made this comic for a poster to promote the 42nd annual Angoulême International Comics Festival, which will be held in Angoulême, France, from January 29th-February 1st, 2015. And it's a thoroughly delightful poster.

Watterson's best C&H cartoons were always the wordless ones.

I miss Calvin and Hobbes.

Damn, seems like our cartoonists are better than our reporters sometimes.

However, the man came off personally as a bit of a prick in interviews.

Which is not to detract from the guy's work. Being a prick and being a genius in one's work are not necessarily mutually exclusive concepts.

... you know I've always loved a good comic/cartoon. Done correctly, they can impart so much with so little.

This one is great.

And I welcome any expression of Watterson's art.

This is great. Thanks, pokerfan!
