Ice Cream and Violins DayI swear Im not making this one up. Dec. 13 has long been acknowledged as National Violin Day, and a number of freakishly talented musicians have marked the occasion by attempting to set a speed record by playing Flight of the Bumblebee at paces that cause most metronomes to melt. The current champ, rock violinist Ben Lee, scorched through more than 15 notes a second on his way to a 54.24 second performance in 2011.
Some very clever people also noted that Dec. 13 happens to be the day that inventor Italo Marchiony submitted an application to the US Patent Office for a device that molds ice cream cups. And because we live in an era where seemingly incongruous happenstances are often subjected to the mashup treatment, a new holiday has born, with online references to the marriage dating back to at least 2004. http://foodies.blogs.starnewsonline.com/33672/the-meal-ice-cream-and-violins-day/

(72,300 posts)I bought a replacement blue-tooth for Mr ITW. He loves it. Last week I bought him the gift of light (a very bright flashlight to replace the old dim-bulb type) for Chanukah.

Today's gift to him ... easier access to his beloved record collection. For the past two years his turntable sat gathering dust. He just put something on.
It's a busy but good day.

Interesting choice.

It's a balmy 41 degrees at this moment.
You are lucky to be living where the winters are warm.
Years ago I enjoyed being a snowbird in Lighthouse Point. We almost moved to northern Florida.

Had some really cold nights this past week. I know, nothing like you're feeling. Love the feed the birds gif.
I just hung up my Christmas Banner of Two Cardinals on branches of snow to feel the Season of Christmas on my deck where I was.
Wish you could join me and have our Tea together and listen to the Christmas tunes.

Your video didn't work for me, here's one song I heard.
