Hold on...

(17,621 posts)I guess Wes Anderson just isn't my cup of tea?

(51,122 posts)At least try Rushmore.

(17,621 posts)This one, anyway, kind of reminds me of something the Coen brothers might come up with. Not a big fan of them, either; except that oddly enough, "O Brother Where Art Thou?" is one of my very favorite comedies.

Brigid
(17,621 posts)Never heard of that one either.

(11,833 posts)I love Wes Anderson's movies. For me, it's just the little funny things that people say and do. Spectacular set design. And kind of like 'shaggy dog' stories. Where the beauty is in the storytelling. Not some plot. Quirky fun.
They aren't everyone's cup of tea. My dad & sister saw it together. My dad fell asleep and my sister thought it sucked.

(3,995 posts)I was fortunate to attend the premiere in Houston and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I am typically not a big fan. I've liked some of his work, but not all, so I get that it's not for everyone. This movie is my favorite of his.

(10,076 posts)I like some of his and find some less interesting. I didn't particularly care for the hotel one, but I found Moonrise Kingdom a lovely little film.

Bucky
(53,786 posts)He's an engaging, but maybe not brilliant, artist. The composition of his scene framing is a delight for the eyes. That's the level I take the man at.

(5,780 posts)Finnes, Abraham, Goldblum, turn in stellar performances. Edward Norton's performance left something to be desired. Jude Law, Harvey Keitel, and Jude Law are all solid.Mathieu Amalric and Saoirse Ronan are enjoyable. Bill Murray is Bill Murray. It has a lot of funny moments. Overall, I'd say 3* out of 5.
