I ,love the scene where he's talking to his wife and says:

Llewelyn Moss: "If I don't come back, tell mother I love her"
Carla Jean Moss: "Your mother's dead, LLewelyn"
Llewelyn Moss: "Well then I'll tell her myself"

GAS STATION PROPRIETOR: "Sir?"

ANTON CHIGURH: "The most. You ever lost. On a coin toss."

GAS STATION PROPRIETOR: "I don't know. I couldn't say."

(Chigurh flips a quarter from the change on the counter and covers it with his hand)

ANTON CHIGURH: "Call it"

GAS STATION PROPRIETOR: "Call it?"

ANTON CHIGURH: "Yes"

GAS STATION PROPRIETOR: "For what?"

ANTON CHIGURH: "Just call it"

GAS STATION PROPRIETOR: "Well, we need to know what were calling it for here"

ANTON CHIGURH: "You need to call it. I can't call it for you. It wouldn't be fair"

GAS STATION PROPRIETOR: "I didn't put nuthin' up"

ANTON CHIGURH: "Yes, you did. You've been putting it up your whole life.."

The mood of this scene is created not by cinematography or sound effects, but solely by the skills of the actors. That mood is set not by any emotional demonstration but rather from the lack of it. I think it's a brilliant scene and perhaps the one that solidified Bardem's Academy Award.

Don't remember that from "No Country For Old Men", though it does sound like a bit of dialogue that I could see either McCarthy or the Coens writing.

Some are a little curious - the hospital in Mexico threw away his clothes (being dripping wet in blood will do that) but why didn't he buy new ones in Mexico?

He threw the case full of money over the fence near the Mexican border before he crossed, but he must have kept some of it, because, in Mexico, he gave the Mariachi band guy a hundred dollar bill and said "Doctor"

Next scene he's in is in a Mexican hospital where Woody Harrelson pays him a visit.

Next scene he's in, he's trying to cross back into the USA, wearing a bathrobe....

Perhaps the hospital didn't know he had money in his bloody clothes when they threw them away?

That would explain why he didn't buy new clothes in Mexico....He was broke!

I like the scene where TL Jones was talking to his dad about the ways of the west in that old rundown ranch house.
