(14,881 posts)now Dahli is showing signs of small airway disease. I think it was triggered by the extra batch of hay I got when I knew Maizie was coming. I usually try to stick to 1st cut, but this was a late buy so I had to take what I could get. 2nd cut is leafy, which even the nicest will have a higher mold spore content. So cough herbs for her with dinner for the foreseeable future.

(130,538 posts)she didn't like having the hood up; probably smushed her ears. Jeoffry always looks like that - he's perpetually surprised. And Milo is about as mellow a cat as there ever was. Nothing bothers him except an empty food dish.

I like to play with old fashioned chemical photography. My wife likes to adopt difficult dogs on death row.
This guy is from the animal shelter.
I hate it that certain dog breeds become fashionable for one reason or another, especially the more difficult dog breeds.
Huskies can be difficult. This is the dog who has destroyed our back yard. He's very strong and he likes to dig. He sheds immense quantities of fur too.
His previous owners couldn't handle him so they simply chained him up in their yard and mostly ignored him. That's illegal in our county, so he was taken away. His teeth are worn from chewing on his chain.
When we adopted him it was obvious he'd never been inside a house before.
He's got the husky nature of being sweet, or at least indifferent, to all humans, but he still forgets sometimes that it's not okay to mark things inside the house with pee.
He peed on the kitchen trash can just yesterday. When I yelled at him he looked at me like "What? There's nothing good in there to eat today. Just leaving a note."
Yes, he does like to dig through the trash, and that's among his least disruptive habits.
He also likes to sing whenever he hears the police sirens, which is several times a day in our community, and often in the middle of the night when everyone is trying to sleep. And then he always looks at us, when we are most annoyed with him, like he thinks we should be singing too.

We named this kitty "Cosmo," but in reality, she's called "The Bonester" 'cuz she doesn't like to eat.

(11,065 posts)This is my current hairy beastie, Yoshi, playing with his leopard wiggly giggly ball...

This is my previous Akita, Boo, being unimpressed by snow and the only photo I was ever able to get of him looking even remotely dignified...

This is my first Akita, Kato, "helping" me make the bed which was one of our rituals that could take up most of the day... but it was the most fun way ever to make the bed...

This is Max, one of my next door neighbors' doggies wearing his "I'm so adorable, don't you want to give me a snack" expressions...

This is their other doggie, Rocko, whose still a puppy sitting on his "throne"...

And this is their previous beastie, Bubba, with their little girl... they had a very special bond from the day she was was born...

(8,554 posts)I have not been without a cat for decades and it feels odd sitting at the computer without at least one fur baby on my lap.

Our dear Skagit kitty, she died a week ago. Cannot talk about her yet, she was so precious to both of us.

This is good old Phoebe cat, a feral who took me a long long time to tame and acclimate to house-living. She died six months ago, still spunky but so loving to the very end.

Here is my sweet little Joey, passed more than a year and I still miss her so.

And he is all we have left now, our beloved collared dove, Teka, who will soon turn 16 years old.
Thanks for the thread, geardaddy! I love seeing everyone else's kids.

(8,554 posts)and that is what I'll always hold on to...they remain in my heart forever.
I knew that Skagit didn't have much time left after she lost her sister last year...she walked and cried, calling for Phoebe thru many a night. She was very old, wise, and full of passion.
