They took some of my stuff and burned the rest.
I hate those damn Sherman's March reenactors.

(29,582 posts)That makes no fucking sense.

(72,300 posts)Do you really believe everything they carry today is only what would have been available on the first march?
Makes plenty of sense to me.

(36,458 posts)After ransacking the Coca Cola bottling plant in Atlanta and stocking up, they marched to the sea. Only after reaching the sea, they turned north and ended up in North Carolina, home to Pepsi until those nasty Carpetbaggers bought stole the company and moved it to New York.

(56,912 posts)that sure is some wide detour they took.
or did you move?
why would they re-enact Sherman's March in NC ...?
Brother Buzz
(36,458 posts)They found meager pickings robbing and plundering on their way to the sea so the command historian, Mr Peabody, suggested they head north and look for Blackbeard's fabled treasure.
Unfortunately, the Army wasn't able to find Blackbeard's treasure but Mr Peabody and Sherman became close friends and later, using the 'Wayback Machine', found the treasure in 1996.
taterguy
(29,582 posts)So I wouldn't count on any treasure.
And he sure as hell never went anywhere close to the red lines on that map.
It would take a month or so to get that far inland using transportation methods of this time.
And why would he? That's the absolute least desirable part of NC.
Brother Buzz
(36,458 posts)Yes, Blackbeard squandered most of his treasure, but he left a few trinkets behind. Expedition digger extraordinaire, Ransom E. Olds found a cool cutlass and gave it to Sherman, then named a car after him, the Oldsmobile Sherman.
taterguy
(29,582 posts)That really wasn't my concern at the time.

Yup. Some people never learn from the wisdom of the Carol Burnett show.
I loved that show.
taterguy
(29,582 posts)Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Well, except for the fact that their questionable hygiene practices make them rather unappealing.
