(12,336 posts)In fact, I go barefoot most of the time, or wear flip flops. I hate shoes.
KMOD
(7,906 posts)I'll suffer through a wedding ceremony with shoes on, but once the reception comes, off they go. lol
Same with when I worked in an office. Once I got there and sat down at my desk, the first thing I would do is kick off my shoes.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(130,516 posts)but as soon as it warms up I'm barefoot. I keep a pair of flip flops by the back door to wear outside (I don't want to step on bees, rocks or pointy things in the garden or I'd be barefoot outside, too).

(7,906 posts)I have so many cute, barely worn slippers. I may wear them for a few minutes, then off they go.
I'm just much more comfortable barefoot.
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)i'll go barefoot during the really warm months, but these are usually on me feet from mid-september to late may
KMOD

(4,412 posts)they're comfy too!
Here's to cute slippers.
I just prefer them in my closet and not on my feet.
CottonBear
(21,615 posts)I LOVE them! My feet are long and narrow. The ballet style slippers look cute and stylish and fit snugly. My mom and sister have now them too!
I hate being barefoot, even indoors. So, I have slippers, flip flops, sandals, slip-on style NB sneakers and Birkenstocks strategically located around the house. This way, my feet never touch the floor!
mackerel
(4,412 posts)my daughter this past Christmas. As I've gotten older I don't like being barefoot either.

(156,619 posts)To be precise, slipper socks!
Knit uppers with leather soles, and boy are these babies warm and cozy!
I just love them.
I have trouble walking around barefoot, no idea why. I'm just not comfortable that way. So, slippers are my foot covering of choice at home.
KMOD
(7,906 posts)Slipper socks are fun.
I just wind up tugging them off after a few minutes.

These are the only things that really fit:

(45,409 posts)I got mine down in Chinatown. So inexpensive, I bought two pair, and wore the first pair out!!!
KMOD
(7,906 posts)I do have a pair of Minnetonka's that are comfortable, but still not the same as barefoot.
yuiyoshida
(45,409 posts)They are made of cotton, with some kind of rubberish underside. You can't wear them outside, they would never hold up. But in side, ...every time I look at my feet, I remember Brue Lee!
magical thyme
(14,881 posts)right now, in bed with socks. If I get overly warm, the socks come off and Jake gets to snack on my toe jam

Out of bed, fuzzy socks and thick, fuzzy slippers.
It's winter. It's Maine. It's effing cold.
Summer, barefoot or flipflops or socks. It's Maine. It could be hot. It could be cold. Either way, soon it will be winter.
KMOD
(7,906 posts)I keep it simple. Barefoot, 99.99% of the time.
magical thyme
(14,881 posts)in Maine, no matter the time of year, you dress in layers to survive. If you get to warm, you strip off layers until you are comfortable again. If you get cold, you just keep adding layers until you look sort of like this:

KMOD
(7,906 posts)I actually used to visit Maine. I think the last time I was there was 82ish. My Aunt had a summer place on Popham Beach.
I'm pretty sure I went barefoot, but it was summer.

(6,336 posts)And I travel with them.
I got a very bad splinter on my foot from a hardwood floor (drew blood) and I won't risk it again. Plus I don't like being barefoot period.
Can't blame you after that.

(33,345 posts)We keep the thermostat at 68 in winter months.
Slipper socks when in PJ's and regular socks when dressed.

(43,161 posts)Let me tell you about science. For winter:
One pair white crew socks with arch support.
Over that, luxurious pair of wool socks.
Over that, those ankle-hugger socks in black, to keep bottoms of wool socks clean.
Is this ever warm!

Cher
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)and I hate them.
I would prefer to just wear socks but have to wear socks with slippers because I have two large, rambunctious dogs that like to step all over my feet.
They suck, indeed.

(37,481 posts)to be serious, socks.

(77,795 posts)The criticisms of flip flops by medical people came true and did some damage to my feet, so from internetting research I ended up with Teva (Lites) for support, but only when leaving the house and mostly cheating back, at home, to the beloved flips most of the time. The flips are SO light, almost non-existent that even the Tevas (much less any kind of real shoes/boots) feel heavy and sweatily oppressive. Am just getting over my impression, barely, that Tevas are dorky Hippie Dippy-looking. For sheer dorkiness, Google for pictures of feet wearing these:
