The fastest mode of travel I own is my airplane in which I normally cruise at about 135 knots true airspeed. Texas is 686 nautical miles in length and 672 nautical miles in width. Assuming no winds (and that's never the case), it would take a little over 5 hours to fly north to south and a little under 5 hours to fly east to west.

Kenosha, Wisconsin to Superior is ~420 miles. At 4MPH that means a 105 hour walk.

From Manitowoc to Hudson is ~300 miles, so about a 75 hour walk.

5. By "efficient" do you mean the fastest? Or the most energy-saving?

Or the best combination of both?

An airplane would be the fastest, and a small airplane, while not as fast as a jet, would be both fast and fuel-efficient. I could probably travel the length of my state (MN) in less than two hours that way.

According to Google Maps takes 13 hours 16 minutes by road for the 856 mile distance.

To fly from Pensacola to Key West takes $431 and 3 hours and 15 minutes.

I couldn't get Google Maps to tell my how long it would take by boat.

So figure about 5 hours east => west and 4+ north => south.

your choice here is pretty much auto or to ask some farmer if he has a plane.

edit to add - in the year before the caucus you might be able to hitch a ride in the Republican clown car - it is all over the state right now.

13. Per Google Maps

North (Montague Township, NJ) to south (Cape May, NJ)

3 hours 24 minutes (205 miles)

East to west I'm going to use the route that's by me (it's the most narrow part of the state but conveniently is an interstate highway). Trenton to Belmar takes about an hour (I've driven it God knows how many times). (The highway cuts the state in half and is unofficially known as NJ's Mason Dixon line).

16. 813 from Key West to Pensacola, FL.

That is just 20 or so miles shorter than the distance from Pensacola to Chicago.

The route via highways is basically US-1 to I-95 to the FL Turnpike to I-75 to I-10 West.

I-10 from the Alabama line to where it ends at the junction of I 95 near downtown Jacksonville is 362 miles.

A little interstate/state trivia;

It is almost exactly the same distance across Tennessee via I-40 as it is across Nebraska via I-80.

It is 4/100ths of a mile farther across Nebraska! (455.28 vs 455.32)

The most efficient mode of travel in FL depends on the terrain. In some areas it is via Airboat!
