The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI finally saw the "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" Daniel Craig remake. Do yourself a favor.
See the original Swedish film. It's available with English subtitles.
It's not as fancy or as slick or as high budget, but WOW is it better!!!!

(102,326 posts)I miss getting to read her and see her in her WH press spot. I hope she is well and happy.

(54,420 posts)I guess she has earned the right. She is still as feisty as ever, just a little slower in her reactions, etc.
She still writes columns for the Falls Church News Press (FCNP.com) if you want to follow her and comment
on her writing. I'll probably see her next in late May. When I last saw her in January, she was worried for the
country, but otherwise in good spirits.

(12,435 posts)They are absolutely riveting. I haven't bothered with the remake because I can't imagine it being better. I held off for a long time before watching the remake of "Let the Right One In" and, as expected, I was disappointed. Why can't they just put these foreign films in American theatres?
PS: The remake of the Dutch film "The Vanishing" was also unnecessary.

(10,337 posts)All three Swedish flicks were available on Netflix streaming last I looked and all three were as good as the books, which never happens. No desire to see the American one as I can't imagine how it could be better.

(422 posts)I thought it was pretty good, on par with the originals, although I'm a sucker for David Fincher movies.
that said, WTF was up with the "Immigrant Song" opening title sequence? It was like the opening of a Bond film.
peace,
