Anybody know how Neil Patrick Harris did his "Oscar recap in a briefcase" trick?

(**Spoiler speculation alert**)

My guess is that since the box was in front of a curtain, there was a way to insert the envelope into the back or the bottom of the clear box, and then into the back or the bottom of the briefcase. And probably during the Best Actor's acceptance speech, when everyone's attention was diverted.

The little stand the briefcase sat on (see below) could even have had a feed mechanism to push the envelope into the briefcase.

The fact that the briefcase was ostensibly on a live feed the whole time might be problematic, but not insurmountable to anyone who's seen Mission Impossible or Sneakers.

I didn't see any way for him to switch out the envelope once he removed it from the briefcase (which would be a much easier solution). The envelope was pretty much in full view once he removed it. IIRC.

Pretty obvious that certain presenters' lines/moments were written for them to 'act' in certain ways that would attract attention so then the 'predictions' would be accurate.
