But I do take off my shoes and put on my slippers!

It's not a matter of cleanliness, but rather of comfort indoors.

And they are comfortable!

Saw a woman at the gas station last week in her PJs and slippers. It was about 35 degrees.

if I'm really tired, I change out of work clothes right into pajama like clothes. That way all I have to do is brush my teeth and go to bed!

I will say I think it's symtomatic of a deep dysfunction in Western society that it is considered appropriate to wear clothes when sleeping.
