Actor Geoffrey Lewis dies at 79...

Geoffrey Lewis, a prolific character actor who appeared opposite frequent collaborator Clint Eastwood as his pal Orville Boggs in "Every Which Way But Loose" and its sequel, has died. He was 79.

Lewis, the father of Oscar-nominated actress Juliette Lewis, died Tuesday, family friend Michael Henderson said. No other details were immediately available.

...I was particularly impressed by his "comeback," or whatever you'd like to call it, in "The Devil's Rejects."

That was a particularly sweet and substantial role for him to land at that point of his career and stands as a testament to not only his stature but to the vision of the people who did the casting.

It was a very "Lewis-like" role...he seemed familiar, like someone we'd seen before, but in a role unlike any of his past films or TV appearances.

R.I.P., Geoffrey.
