National Truffles Day It’s National Truffle Day! According to legend, a man named Louis Dufour invented the chocolate truffle in Chambéry, France in 1895. A few years later, Antoine Dufour opened the Prestat Chocolate Shop in London. Historians believe this chocolate shop was solely responsible for popularizing chocolate truffles in England (and beyond), but the relationship between Louis and Antoine is uncertain. Fun fact: Roald Dahl, the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was a huge fan of Prestat truffles!

The first recipes for chocolate truffles appeared in the 1920s. Today there are three main types—American, European, and Swiss. Each type of truffle has a slightly different twist, but they all include a creamy ganache filling and a topping like cocoa, coconut, or drizzled chocolate. http://www.punchbowl.com/holidays/national-truffle-day

Join Hands Day While you might think that Join Hands Day is all about shaking the hands of strangers you meet in the street, it is fact a day dedicated to attempting a union in our communities between the older generation and the younger generation. In the world where youths are persecuted, and the elderly are presented as weak and frail, this day truly brings communities together to recognise the various ways in which we all aid each other.

Many communities across the world will use Join Hands Day to start a dialogue between the old and the young, hoping to plant a seed of communication which can exist for years to come. If you want to get involved try paying a visit to a community centre or elderly home, and show that regardless of age we are all humans who need to be appreciated and loved. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/join-hands-day/

Free Comic Book Day Free Comic Book Day (not to be confused with Comic Book Day) celebrates the humble graphical novel, with comic book stores giving away free comics to fans, enthusiasts and new readers alike. Why not visit your local comic store and see what takes your fancy? After all – you might get a free comic! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/free-comic-book-day/

Theme song:

Yoo hoo, it's me,
My name is Pinky Lee.
I skip and run with lots of fun
For every he and she.
It's plain to see
That you can tell it's me
With my checkered hat
And my checkered coat,
The funny giggle in my throat
And my silly dance
Like a billy goat.
Put 'em all together,
Put 'em all together,
And it's whooooo?
(Audience): Pinky!

A lot of the comic book stores around here have some pretty neat things set up for this.

But over here (UK) Monday 2nd is a public holiday, same as a lot of Socialist countries. The Tories hate it and would get rid of it if such a move wasn't guaranteed to lose votes.
