Didn't get much sleep last night, so it's COFFEE this morning!

Two completely different but equally valid reasons for my lack of sleep:

1. I just got the results of my last Statistics test before the final exam next week. I was expecting a 70 at best. Instead, I got a 90. That means I'll have three tests averaged into my final grade with scores of 90, 80, and 90 along with my cumulative homework score (in progress, but looking good) and my final exam. I'll be cramming this weekend, but I can pass the class. I didn't feel this confident yesterday afternoon, but when my professor showed me that test grade, everything changed.

2. I got home and was unwinding for the night when I see this great big cockroach climbing on my window blinds. I've had problems with cockroaches in the past, but not the big roaches. So I grab the can of roach spray and hit the beast with a zoot of organic poison, but it just scurries off along the wall, higher than I can reach. Why isn't the poison working? It finally drops down low enough where I try squashing it with my shoe. I think I connect with the cockroach, but when it falls to the floor, it disappears. Is it still alive? Did it take shelter in my hall closet? Can't open the door because the foundations have shifted from all the rain we got. Somewhere in my home, there is a giant poisoned cockroach that may be alive or dead, and I don't have time for this uncertainty.

So I try to sleep, elated about my class, but worried that the cockroach is gonna sneak into my bed at night. Coffee time!

I once brought home a cardboard container that had bottles of pop in it. A roach crawled out.

I had a hard time finding it and getting rid of it. I hate to squish bugs, but I had to. I don't need roaches multiplying in my house.

I am told that one of the ways to get rid of them is to keep them away from a source of water. Make sure your faucets don't drip. Don't leave anything out for them to drink. Secure your lower cupboards that have pipes in them. Put the poison near those pipes, but away from pets.

That's when I immediately said to myself "Fuck this shit" and smushed the cockroach under the washcloth, but the babies were already scattering across the bathroom. There were at least two dozen of them, all scurrying for shelter so they could grow big and strong to come back and fuck with my life. I had to hunt down every last one of them, and then I disinfected the bathroom countertop for good measure. That was a wretched way to start Sunday morning.

If this big cockroach turns up alive and pregnant, I may just lose it. I live up on the third floor, and I would like a few words with anyone who might have inadvertently brought these Goliaths up the stairs with them.
