Ave Maria grotto in Alabama

[IMG][/IMG]

"The Ave Maria Grotto in Cullman, in the state of Alabama, the United States, is home to a unique collection of miniature replicas of some of the most famous religious shrines and buildings of the world. It is located on the grounds of Saint Bernard Abbey, the state's only Benedictine monastery, and was built by Brother Joseph Zoettl over a period of 50 years"

Fascinating story of a monk who shoveled coal at the monastery powerhouse and in his spare time built models of holy sites and a few fantasy structures. The 4 acre park has 125 of the late monk's work and is on the National Register of Historical sites.

Gotta put that on my list of places to visit
