wish I'd had time to set up the video camera

At long last, after much watering and nurturing of baby grasses, and last minute fence repair this morning, Dahli and Maizie got to go outside for the first time in many weeks.

Dahli knows the routine, so she's been very calm inside.
Maizie used to live out, so she although she had been very patient, she's been losing it lately, trying to dig her way out and lately seeing if she can disassemble the barn.

When I put Dahli's grazing muzzle on, she immediately pooped in excitement.
Maizie has never worn one, but didn't seem to mind the contraption.

The grazing muzzle cuts their grass intake to help prevent them from overdoing when their bodies aren't used to it. It also increases their exercise and keeps them busy "working" at getting the grass, so helps keep them out of trouble.

When I let them out, Dahli immediately dropped her head and set to work eating.
Maizie took off like a rocket and trotted and galloped around.

When she nearly ran into Dahli at one point, Dahli gave it up and joined in for a quick romp and some humongous bucks.

I picked out the barn and then headed in. I couldn't bear to watch the sliding stops churning up my grasses

Funny how once I wasn't there to watch, they both settled down. There's a trick to eating with the grazing muzzle, but it looks like once she quit galloping and starting focussing on food, Maizie figured it out. Dahli is an old hand at it.

Next trick will be getting them back in for the night. Hopefully that will go well. The reward is the muzzles come off and they can stuff themselves freely with hay.

I'll try to get some pix of them tomorrow...
