The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWe'll be sweating tonight. The AC died.
My appliance guy said the blower motor crapped out. He can't get one until 8 in the morning. Currently 86° with 65% humidity and tonight it will only drop to 72 and the humidity will climb to 100%.

(28,394 posts)What is this, some kind of conspiracy? Ours died last week in the middle of upper 80s and high humidity. The repairman said they have to order a new motor from --- Mexico!!! Thanks a lot, Bill Clinton!
I have two fans blowing hot air on me. My state of dress or undress is confidential, however.

(60,010 posts)My body will not stand those temps and humidity any longer.
Can you make a swamp cooler with floor fans and a cooler of ice?
I have had to do that in the past also.
Do you have ceiling fans?
All of the above I consider necessities for living down here.
We have had our A/c go out twice, and I do bless the repair guys who showed up so very very promptly.

Cave Water
Only water sounds, wrapped in complete silence
Natural light disappears, temperature drops, and the sound of the outside world ceases. We are a hundred feet below the surface. Many subterranean lakes are connected by narrow passages, calcareous barrages, and small waterfalls. This world of complete darkness is not a world of silence. Draining crystal-clear water, these passages fill the atmosphere with an amazingly rich palette of water sounds, meticulously wrapped in complete silence.

(54,330 posts)Here in the Rheinland (a few KM northwest of Düsseldorf) it has been (translated into degrees F°) in the forties at night, in the low 50s in the morning and evening, and getting all the way up to the low sixties at mid day. Summer was on a Thursday this year, and it has already come and gone.
