Parents have been protesting outside Dr. Howard Schneiders office for three weeks, and CNNs Anderson Cooper 360 brought national attention to the case on Wednesday, showing cell phone video of a child screaming in Schneiders chair and interviewing a little girl who ended up with seven teeth pulled instead of just one.
She was hyperventilating and had blood all over her, marks all over her, the girls mom, Brandi Motley, said. In the parking lot, she takes her gauze out, and all of her teeth are gone. What happened to all of her teeth?...
After Motley put photos of her daughters dental horror on Facebook, the parents of the alleged victims started coming forward with their own horror stories, resulting in a class action for assault and battery. (Motley and her daughter dropped out from that suit, but are pursuing a separate medical malpractice case against Schneider).

(1,893 posts)My heart goes out to these kids though. A lifetime of dentalphobia stretches before them, I suspect.

(1,893 posts)Although I suppose they could have functional problems till their permanent teeth come in.
But this is exactly how phobias are born. I never had any fear of the dentist until one harrowing dental ordeal and I've been a white knuckle patient ever since. I try to smile and joke about it but I'm trembling as soon as I hit the chair. My dentist is really sweet about it - he puts a blanket over me to help me stop shaking. I keep hoping someday I'll get over it. Hey - at least I'm in a lot of good company.
I hope these kids will be more resilient, being so young.

(16,167 posts)he should be strapped in a chair and one tooth at a time pulled with vice grips, no anesthesia. Start in the front by rocking each tooth back and forth until they break off.
I have dentaphobia too, caused by some sick s.o.b. in the 1960s. Dr Stanton, rot in hell.

(14,061 posts)...and I don't see any of the humor here. This will likely affect how these kids see dentists and dentistry for the rest of their lives.
Heard on the news this morning that this guy has given up his license. Most of the procedures, as far as I could tell, were totally uncalled for in kids that young.

(56,828 posts)but, I might be persuaded to make an exception for this monster. How about we pull all his teeth out with pliers? No anesthesia.
