Our local antique dealers don't want beds, not even solid brass ones from the '80s.
Any suggestions?

(5,946 posts)the cheap stuff is so available, I have a solid cherry wood dining set I paid 5K ro in the late 70's - no takers, At some point I would want to sell my solid oak carved set (weighs a ton, but solid oak and deeply carved the doors are like 6 inches thick) absolutely no one in my family is interested. No person answers the ads. I also paid 5K for that set in the late 60's
Now people want cheap light junk, not something you can't move.

(72,300 posts)I don't want to 'give' them away. The seat and back fabric against the dark carved wood is beautiful. That's the one I'm willing to bet is worth the most. The second chair is a lighter carved wood.
I think we'll be able to sell the two (1986) dark wood and glass curio cabinets easily.
I wish you luck getting your pieces sold.
Unlike what we have the light weigh cheap furniture won't last.

(5,946 posts)they want my bedroom set,. It may be only 45 years old, but it looks like it is a few hundred years old because of the deep carving. then write it off as a tax deduction.

Though we will be heading to Jersey but not until mid-July.

(72,300 posts)I moved the brass bed into our guest room back in 2007. The bed has been in storage since we moved in 2012 because I no longer have room for it. One of the queen size beds should have a new home.
