What are you up to this evening.
Say whatever is on your mind. Movies, what you're eating, whatevs.
I'm chillin' after a busy week. Some friends came by and gave me a bottle of wine. They were just traveling in India. She's an artist and I let her ship a package of her art to me here while she was away. He's a filmmaker and showed me some stuff he shot there. It was fun hanging with them for a while. Now I'm home alone the rest of the evening.

(29,414 posts)but the lightning has been horrendous in this storm. Already lost power once, and I don't have a UPS for my desktop (Uninterrupted Power Supply.)
I do get to listen to the steady waterfall off of the flat roof, and the occasional chirp of frogs now that things are settling down
lovemydog
(11,833 posts)We've been getting some thunderstorms here in New Mexico too.
Gonna check out a UPS on amazon. For one thing I don't want my computer fried!
edited to add: just got it. Thanks for the reminder.

(29,414 posts)How do you determine the wattage size for your needs?
Even though it's rare for the power to go out here (I live right next to a high-power right of way) it will still dip, which can be worse for some things, like motors.
Hope you enjoy yours to the point of forgetting you have it!

(11,833 posts)in the frequently asked questions section. I ordered the one that was listed as number one bestseller. In the comments sections there's some descriptions of what people are running. For me, I didn't want to pay more that fifty bucks. Some comments suggest just running computer and monitor off it. It only runs for a few minutes after the stoppage. But what it does, what I wanted, is it lets you know via beeps to shut your computer down. And it protects your power box and computer from short circuiting. So, that should fulfill my immediate needs for a small price. Thanks. And I hope you find a good solution as well.

(53,339 posts)I should be writing an OP on one of them, but I'm wiped out. And my event photos were pretty bad, so there's that, too.

Seriously, awesome that you do charity work. People like you make the world a better place.

(53,339 posts)You're a hoot!
I can write a halfway decent OP when I have the energy. But coming back from a long event, it can be tough to do--especially when you upload your pics and find they're crap.
I still should post something in the Veterans Group, but it was easier to just reply in a GD thread:

(11,833 posts)That is some amazing photography, humanizing that man and his son. So cool that you know him. I can't thank you often enough for your work with veterans. I won't stop, man. I will keep thanking you. Doooood!

(53,339 posts)And I'm happy to share the view from here.
For any event or occasion, no matter how many news articles there are, it always seems to mean more to hear from one of our own DUers on the scene. I certainly enjoy that and find it meaningful, so I try to share my perspective on local events whenever possible. Preferably telling the story with personal photos--if they come out halfway decent.

(55,007 posts)We had this strange weather last month and I am still dealing with a stupid compression bandage on my leg so I only today got my little bag-ofwater-on-some-sticks (intex wallyworld) pool opened up. found a condom for my leg and got in to do the vacuuming and even did some laps!
We are going to cook some burgers on the grill and I may have a beer, but I bet I crash by 8.
edit -
yes I am tired. it is now Sunday.

(11,833 posts)j/k Glad you found something for your leg and did some swimming!
I just got back from a long walk. I'm sweating. Walked back from theater where I saw Mad Max. Crazy flick. It was nice getting some air-conditioning.

(81,238 posts)I decided to back off asking for votes because, sheesh, this thing could go on for weeks! And I don't want to annoy anybody. Besides, other people here have lots more critical needs for which to ask help. I may pick back up with it just to give everybody an update. ACIDIC is STILL holding its own in the Top Ten - Five weeks running by now! Mighty proud of them!
Thank you again, lovemydog!
