Michaela Egan, 24, took to Facebook after finding a strange white ‘cocoon’ on the last banana of a bunch she’d bought from her local Tesco.

She was soon inundated with suggestions that the webbing belonged to a Brazilian wandering spider, ranked in the Guinness World Records as the world’s most dangerous.

Its bite can kill in as little as two hours and male victims may suffer a painful erection that can last as long as four hours.
