The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI've heard about "Amazon Prime Day" from several people on FB. Forgive my ignorance, but WTF is it?
http://www.geekbookofdays.com/archives/1483And is it in any relation to Optimus Prime day, which is actually pretty awesome?

(12,723 posts)Prime is the name of their free shipping video streaming package. Otherwise lots of "deals" are planned for the day.

(51,122 posts)I looked at some of the 'deals.' Nothing unusual or impressive. They have deals all year. This one has just been hyped in social media and in press releases.

(56,848 posts)a 32" LED TV for $75 and a 40" LED TV for $115. I'm tempted by both.

(7,770 posts)those great deals were hard to actually purchase.
I got told multiple items were sold out within seconds of them being offered at the Prime Day prices.
Did manage to get a nice Japanese watch, some workout shake mix and some anti virus software, though.

(56,848 posts)Walmart and Newegg.com are offering better deals. Amazon has a few good deals, but tons and tons of crap.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,902 posts)Good deals (if the lined out price is to be believed) on crap I don't need or want, but so-so discounts on the stuff I am in the market for - gas grill, TV, bakeware, etc.
Not impressed.
Give me a 60" HD Smart TV for $650 and we'll be on to something.
