Microchip helps lost cat in Hawaii reunite with Michigan family

For the past 19 months, a family that used to live in Hawaii thought their cat, Bogie, was gone forever.

That is, until they recently got a call that Bogie was found.

“I found Bogie about six or eight months ago. There’s a number of cats I manage on Ualena Street near the Honolulu airport. Bogie started showing up periodically,” said Bill Antilla.

Antilla volunteers his time feeding stray cats with Hawaii CatFriends, a nonprofit group that spays and neuters feral cats on Oahu.

of cats assumed dead or never found actually end up being absorbed into the feral population. These are scrappy, resourceful animals that have only been domesticated 5,000 years. Dislocated outside their territory, they will often revert to a wild or feral mode.

Just hope that this guy and other feral groups will systematically scan all cats they come in contact with - not only the friendly and/or purebred cats. And people - don't give up on your lost cat!

http://www.missingpetpartnership.org has lots of info on lost cat behavior - & they have a phenomenal 70% success rate
