The actress and dancer had been battling breast cancer for two years, her family said in a statement posted on her website.

Craig portrayed Batgirl in the show's third and final season, bringing a female touch to the proceedings, alongside Adam West and Burt Ward's dynamic duo.

She also had a memorable role as the green-skinned "Marta" on "Star Trek" in its third season.

RIP Batgirl/Marta.

In her Barbara Gordon persona, not as Batgirl.

I think she is the one who inspired my appreciation for the 'sexy librarian' look.

But 78 is not that bad.

Saw her Star Trek episode a few weeks ago. She played crazy pretty well. One of the best guest spots for a woman in TOS's run.

I would like to say I have fond, fond memories of her as Batgirl but I was only 6 when it originally aired so I was more into Batman than her. But have enjoyed her in later viewings.

Like you, I was more into Batman at the time. And maybe it had something to do with "Two's company, three's a crowd".
But I have no problem watching the old Dynamic Trio now

RIP, Batgirl
