http://www.famousbirthdays.com/september9.htmlWonderful Weirdoes Day Nothings quite as dull as being normal, boring and average. Celebrate being weird, and celebrate the weirdos in your life on Wonderful Weirdos Day. Make an effort to be weird by dressing weirdly, doing weird things and encouraging weirdness with your friends and in the workplace! https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/wonderful-weirdos-day/
Teddy Bear Day The teddy bear is one of the most popular toys for children, and holds a special place in many adults hearts, too. This lovable stuffed animal has a day all of its own, Teddy Bear Day. It gives a chance for people to get teddy out of the cupboard and make him the center of attention. Its an ideal time to get together with others for a teddy bears favorite activity, having a picnic, as immortalized in the classic song, Teddy Bears Picnic. This was written in 1907, shortly after teddy bears were first manufactured in Europe and America. The American toy bears were named Teddy, in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt, who had refused to shoot a small captured bear on a hunting trip. Many teddy bears have become famous over the years, including Paddington Bear, Rupert Bear, Pudsey Bear and, of course, Winnie the Pooh. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/teddy-bear-day/

(53,339 posts)8. I saw the original 'Teddy' Bear at the Smithsonian decades ago
Sent from USC in CA for a semester of study in D.C., our group got to tour the museum's "attic."
The Teddy Bear was cool, but they had other things that were more striking. Like Abe Lincoln's desk and JFK's rocking chair. Some of that stuff could move you to tears.
