Those old Gibson basses always sounded like that, even with roundwound strings. Felix Pappalardi, Cream's producer, was another avatar of that sound with his Gibson EB-1 "violin" bass:

I wonder, do high school bands still play this song at football games?

Ginger Baker is an amazing powerful drummer, great tribal feel...
On this song he "sings" as well. The weirdest song Cream did, which is one reason why I like it...

It was the album version, and every time I played it, I thought about the "Blue Moon" phrasing. Nice to see Eric playing the SG painted by "The Fool". Thanks for posting this, I never saw this performance before.
