Cat sits, staring.
I type some more, sigh. Look around, stretch. The new budget is a pain, but at least it's getting done.
Cat sits, staring, always at the same spot ahead.
I go back to typing.

I type, shift in my spot a bit.

In a flash, across the room, paws stretched up, gripping the corner of the wall hard, claws extended--
Frozen.
I glance over, I type some more.
SPRING, and off down the hall, thump-thump.
It's quiet in the apartment today. This budget is taking a while.
thumpThumpTHUMP and back to gripping the wall--
Frozen.
And release, and slow walk back to the other side of the room, to sit.
And stare.
At the same blank spot on the white wall.
Frozen.
I look at her, ask her, "Cat, it's quiet today. What gives?"
She flicks an ear, cocks her head, and decides to turn around and look at me.
Our eyes connect, and I look deep into a whirlwind of...something fiery, intense, fearful.
My world is never silent.
