http://www.clickondetroit.com/lifestyle/food/study-psychopaths-take-their-coffee-black/35834884The University of Innsbruck in Austria study included around 1,000 people and found that subjects who preferred bitter notes in their food and beverages scored higher on questionnaires that assessed "Machiavellianism," a word used in psychology to describe people with psychopathic, narcissistic and sadistic personality traits, reports the Huffington Post.
The data was was self-reported, which is an unreliable metric, but researchers hope their study will prompt further investigation into links between eating habits and psychological traits, reports the Huffington Post.
So there are no psychopaths in tea-drinking countries like the UK and India?

(8,217 posts)I've been drinking it black lately since I find it to be healthier.
I'd love to load it with cream and sugar now and then, or even do odd things to it, like add a little bit of salt to make it taste sweeter.
However, I've been drinking black coffee lately.
Also, depending on the quality of coffee, some of them I prefer to drink black, so I could taste the nuance of the flavors.
Then again, I don't know how I would score in that personality test.

(12,160 posts)a passive-aggressive one, because I always cool my always-black coffee down by diluting it with water.

(2,273 posts)And grew up in a no sugar/salt house so I just drank my coffee black from the beginning and it's how I like it now. I have tried every variation of non dairy creamer and just don't like the flavor.

(54,256 posts)Until I started flying for TWA* I took cream and sugar in my java.
After months of training I was finally in the cockpit as a newbie flight engineer#.
During an early morning pre-flight cockpit check out of O'Hare, the senior cabin attendant (a tough broad about 20 years my senior) came up and said "OK, who wants coffee?"
The Captain said "Black, thanks."
The co-pilot said "Black, thanks."
I said "Cream and sugar, please."
And she said "Honey, I don't have time to fuck around with condiments. You'll learn to like it black."
The Captain looked back at me a smiled.
"You'll learn."
*TWA - Trans World Airlines. For many decades the premier domestic and international U.S airline. Bankrupt in 2000.
#Flight Engineer - The third crew member who was responsible for monitoring and implementing/operating all aircraft systems and components. Engines, hydraulics, flight controls, electrical, pressurization, HVAC, movies, audio entertainment.
Also the third set of eyeballs in the cockpit, monitoring the Captain and co-pilot and watching for other aircraft.
Replaced by automatic electronic systems and computers.
Much cheaper than a paid warm body.
