Yeah you, getting up to get another cup of coffee. What are you doing to stay alive?
Normally, I'd be walking outdoors but this stupid groundhog hurricane keeps sending bands of rain off and on so I went to the gym.
I warmed up on the rower, then did the circuit, then finished with a few minutes on an elliptical. The only part I enjoyed was walking back to my car.
Just not in the mood today.
Only reason to go...

(32,088 posts)I get bored on ellipticals and other machines. I usually Zumba/Aqua Zumba or take a spin class. I also swim laps. Need to get back into weight training and Pilates.
Phentex
(16,334 posts)I can't remember when I last swam. I did an aerobics class but it was so-so. Then I swam on my own and I loved it! I'm going to try for once a week.

(82,849 posts)Aerobic, low impact, and accomplish something.
Fall is coming, I've started adding a baselayer this week. My commute is only 11 miles round trip, but it's better than nothing.
Peace
Phentex
(16,334 posts)I'd only attempt a short ride in the neighborhood or on one of the bike trails. Too terrifying anywhere else. It's great that you can ride to work!
gratuitous
(82,849 posts)Most of the commute is on multi-use paths (no motor vehicles), and motorists are used to seeing cyclists on the streets there, so it's not quite so terrifying.
Phentex
(16,334 posts)It makes so much sense. I don't know why it's so hard to do this in other places.

(10,164 posts)Not the commute part (I work at home), but I got in a pretty soggy 20-miler training ride this AM here in good ol' bike-friendly P-Town. #RCTID

My heart is thanking me mostly. Even with diet and exercise, I still have to take blood pressure medication.
It really sucks.
Phentex
(16,334 posts)my husband is fighting it. He is really fit, runs half marathons, eats super foods, low salt, etc and the doctor still doesn't like his blood pressure.
Both his parents took medication. And I think my husband works too much and suffers from a silent stress. But I'm no doctor.

Phentex
(16,334 posts)so frustrating when it doesn't rise. I usually blame the weather or yeast.
kentauros
(29,414 posts)but in my last batch of no-knead bread, I had to use bread flour when it normally calls for all-purpose. It made the bread too tough. It does make good croutons, though
I'm going to try the "Almost No Knead" recipe in the Cook's Illustrated Baking Book next. So far, I haven't had a recipe out of that book fail.

(8,310 posts)pulling a wagon. (I don't drive.) Filled it with groceries and pulled it back home. Then I pushed a reel mower through my back yard as it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Now I'm doing some elbow bends with Pipeline Porter. Yum.
I expect to sleep like a log tonight.
Phentex
(16,334 posts)we used a reel mower for years. We have since gotten rid of most of the grass and use a small electric mower now.
All this rain has brought down a ton of sticks and leaves so I know what I'll be doing as soon as it dries out.

(9,527 posts)Yesterday I did a heavy arm/shoulder day weight lifting in the boring gym and then did parkour last night where I managed to put my worse knee in unfortunate contact with a metal pole. Hence the rest day since my knee is still recovering from surgery on the exact area that hit the pole (good job me).
If my knee is up for it tomorrow will be back and triceps in the boring gym and I have gymnastics in the evening (even if it's hard to call it gymnastics when I can only work on handstands and basic rings/high bar stuff).
Phentex
(16,334 posts)I remember the old days. Now, I can't even do a cartwheel.
Rest is good.

(9,527 posts)Someday (231 more days) I will have two mostly functional knees. But it has been difficult to stay motivated when even my doctor said I should take 6 months off to let my knee heal. I even got called and yelled at for my list of questions about what I can do that I gave to the PT. They were mortified when they heard I was doing handstands out of terror that I would land on the wrong leg. I tried to explain that's not a thing that happens, but they didn't understand.
mythology
(9,527 posts)I have an all but healed rip on each hand and then I ripped a different part of my hand on my "one last turn and I'm done on high bar." So I get to vitamin E my hand overnight and figure out the work out for tomorrow. I'm thinking core day, because who doesn't love dragon flags and V ups?
I also did a heavy back and tricep work out day at the boring gym.

(6,496 posts)Nothing major. I try to do a little each day. 2 was all I could get in this morning before I had to start getting my 6 year old son ready for school. I do 2 -3 miles in the morning on the treadmill on school days. Weekends I run about 3 miles outside on this nice trail in my neighborhood that follows along the river.

Not really that far but the longest hikes I've been able to handle for a long time.
I took it easy today - my lungs are not happy today. What is nice is that my muscles and joints are just fine.
My husband is forcing me to get out at least two or three times a week to do some kind of walking whether it is an outside hike or - since my breathing is a problem in high humidity - in some big store or one of the malls.
